The american now announced that she still wants to compete in the three speed races in lake louise in early december 2019 as the conclusion of her active career. In the canadian winter sports resort vonn had celebrated 18 of her 82 world cup victories so far. This weekend she will miss the races because of a knee injury she suffered recently during training. "I’m going to come back to lake louise again, it’s important for me," the 34-year-old said in a video message on youtube.
In her last world cup winter vonn wants to break the best mark of the swedish ingemar stenmark, who took 86 victories. By missing the two downhills and one super-G in lake louise, the american misses three of her best chances to get close to the record.
"Whether i break the record or not has nothing to do with me coming back next year," said vonn. "Lake louise has always been my race, even some locals call it lake lindsey. I will regret it for the rest of my life if I miss this last opportunity to ride out of the lake louise start house. Hopefully I’ll break the record this year and then I won’t have to worry about it next year and I can just have fun."
Vonn did not give a date for her comeback. "Probably in a couple of weeks" she will be able to race again, the u.S. Star said.
