The motorsport season enters the home stretch. Christopher haase from kirchleus is letting it roll out slowly and is already looking back on a successful 2018: "it was a good season overall, i’m satisfied." Most recently, audi and the carcollection team used him in the long-distance race at the nurburgring – as a test driver, so to speak. The 31-year-old was able to drive the brand-new audi R8 LMS evolution, which will be used in the GT3 races in 2019, for the first time in a race.
"The differences from the previous R8 LMS lie primarily in the aerodynamics", haase explains. The even more streamlined front spoiler is particularly eye-catching. But because the new car has not yet been tested and approved by the organizers, haase and his teammate, DTM driver jamie green, had to start from the back of the grid in the SPX class, just like the new aston martin. In addition, all SPX cars were given an extra 20 seconds at each of the three pit stops.
Despite the handicap, haase and green drove at the 50. Barbarossa prize over a four-hour race distance to fifth place. "It was a good debut for the new car. The nurburgring is the ideal place to put a car through its paces, says the kirchleuser.
